Why Is My Heat Not Working? What Do I Do?

You may need to check your fuel tank

If your heating equipment is not working, read the gauge on your fuel tank to see if you need to order heating oil. If you do, don’t panic! Call your friends at Auth Fuels right away to schedule your heating oil delivery. Important to note: If your tank reads empty, call us right away. An empty oil tank can cause serious harm to your heating equipment.

Take a look at your thermostat

If you find that your fuel tank is full, it’s wise to take a look at your thermostat next. Make sure that the thermostat is set to HEAT and that someone didn’t accidentally turn the cooling function on instead.

Check all switches

Check that all of your furnace and emergency switches are turned on. These often feel and look like light switches (except they’re red), so sometimes they are mistakenly turned off in the dark.

Push the furnace reset button

Make sure you press the reset button on your furnace, but, make sure to do it ONCE ONLY.
